World Hope Forum – A Labour of Love – 1st May 2021

After the huge honour of exhibiting at the A Labour Of Love Exhibition and the additional tremendous excitement at being part of the accompanying book by Li Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano, the invitation to speak to the audience of the World Hope Forum was yet another incredible step for us. The choice of International Workers’ Day seemed particularly appropriate.

The World Hope Forum is an organisation created in spring 2020, during the depth of the pandemic caused by Covid-19 and founded by Lidewij Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano, in collaboration with Dezeen as media partner.

The World Hope Forum’s main goal is to create a holistic global platform for the exchange and expansion of knowledge, innovation of business practices, resetting of making methods, invention of alternative models, and the rethinking of rituals for selling, sharing and bartering – as well as other initiatives yet to be discovered. Many themes are on our horizon, such as climate, inclusivity, waste management, cooperation, indigenous design, archeology as a source of inspiration, and the humanities to be included in the way we design. Ideas about slowing down and scaling down, integrating people and planet in all we do.

“The creative power to transform society from within. Join us to design a future full of hope.”

which rings very true for us.

See the video below for more about the reasons behind our work, a history of shaping trees and a brief tour around our Chair Orchard.
